Shiba Inu's Shibarium Nears 420 Million Transactions as Daily Activity Surges by 50%: Impact on Shiba Inu Price

Nearing 420 Million Transactions

According to data from Shibariumscan, Shibarium, the Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by the Shiba Inu team, has nearly reached a significant milestone of 420 million transactions since its launch in August 2023. The total stands just above 417.53 million, marking a rapid ascent in just nine months.

This surge comes amid fluctuating daily transaction volumes. After a dip to 10,904 transactions on Tuesday, there was a 50% increase on Wednesday, climbing to 15,414. This recovery follows Monday's peak of 18,554 transactions, the second-highest daily total in May.

The network's average daily transactions now hover around 9,000. Maintaining this average, it could take approximately eight months to complete the remaining 2.5 million transactions needed to reach the 420 million milestone. However, with the ongoing bull market and increasing crypto participation, Shibarium may achieve this milestone sooner, as higher adoption rates could accelerate its growth.

Shiba Inu's price has faltered despite the broader crypto market's recovery, declining 2.55% over the last day alongside a significant drop in trading volume. Its daily trading volume has plummeted by 49% to $631 million, indicating waning interest, particularly as newer meme coins capture more attention and gains.

For instance, the PEPE coin has reached new all-time highs this week, surging over 100% in the last month. Similarly, BONK coin is nearing new highs, with a 74% increase in the same period. This trend suggests a shift in investor interest from established meme coins like Shiba Inu to these emerging alternatives.

Despite the recent downturn, Shiba Inu remains the 12th-largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of $14.9 billion, trading at $0.00002532. However, if newer meme coins continue outperforming, Shiba Inu's price could face further pressure.
