Pantera Capital, like many others in the financial sector, has recently made a bullish forecast for Bitcoin's price following the completion of the halving event. The cryptocurrency hedge fund has reaffirmed its previous price prediction a year and a half ago, suggesting that Bitcoin could surge to as high as $114,000 by August 2025.
Despite various challenges, such as concerns about inflation, the Federal Reserve's interest rate policies, and the escalating crisis in the Middle East, the cryptocurrency industry remains optimistic. Pantera Capital's latest prediction, featured in its 100th letter, is part of this growing industry optimism. In this letter, Pantera revisits its analysis from November 2022, which focused on Bitcoin's performance before and after its most recent halving event.

How Bitcoin's Halving Events Impact Price
Using a methodology known as the stock-to-flow model, Pantera Capital assessed Bitcoin's supply in relation to the flow of new production. This model considers the programmed reduction of new Bitcoin production by 50% every four years during halving events.
These halving events particularly influence the changes to this ratio, reflecting the difference between supply and new production flow. Historically, Bitcoin's price has surged significantly, sometimes increasing by as much as 93-fold.

Pantera's analysis of both pre-halving and post-halving price rallies revealed that, on average, prices tend to peak approximately 2.6 years after halving events. Based on this analysis, current projections point to a potential peak around August of the following year. Although not without its uncertainties, the stock-to-flow model has gained popularity within the cryptocurrency industry as a tool for assessing the intrinsic value of Bitcoin.
How High Could Bitcoin Go? Experts Predict Explosive Growth Ahead
In February, Jurrien Timmer, Fidelity's director of global macro, suggested that the world's largest cryptocurrency could achieve a market valuation of $1.5 trillion, surpassing gold by $500 billion. He utilized a variation of the model to underscore Bitcoin's scarcity and value proposition compared to gold.
Pantera Capital is now among several voices in the industry making six-figure forecasts for Bitcoin. Bernstein, a research firm, has speculated on a $150,000 valuation by mid-2025. Anthony Scaramucci, the founder of Skybridge Capital, envisions a $170,000 or higher price for Bitcoin in the coming year.
