M-Token Gameplay: A Guide to Obtaining M-BTC on Merlin Chain

M-token is your validation for the assets you have staked before. For example, if you staked BTC, you will receive M-BTC. After the Merlin’s Seal event ends (expected to be the end of April), you can exchange M-Token for the original assets at a 1:1 ratio. If you sell or lose your M-token, you will not be able to get back your staked assets, but your Merlin’s Seal points will not change.

Identify Your Starting Scenario

Choose the scenario that fits you best and follow the steps to get your M-BTC ready:

Scenario 1

  • You have participated in Merlin’s Seal and staked BTC on Merlin Mainnet.
  • How to: Claim M-BTC from Merlin’s Seal.

Scenario 2

  • You have BTC on Bitcoin Layer1.
  • How to: Bridge to Merlin in MerlinBridge, then exchange it for M-BTC using MerlinSwap.

Scenario 3

  • You have no BTC on Bitcoin Layer1.
  • How to: Bridge assets from other chains to get BTC on Merlin, then use MerlinSwap to get M-BTC.

🚨Important Reminders🚨

If you are under Scenario 1 or Scenario 2, the operation process will involve AA Wallets (Particle Network). Please make sure to read the following instructions carefully.

  • The EVM Address of the AA Wallet differs from a regular EVM Wallet.
  • After receiving BTC in your AA Wallet, it is recommended immediately transferring it to your EVM Wallet (e.g. MetaMask). ⚠️USE EVM Wallet for ALL the future interactions to guarantee a smooth user experience.
  • AA Wallets (Particle Network) do NOT come with a Seed Phrase, so you can’t directly move to MetaMask through exporting your seed phrase.

Scenario 1: You’ve staked BTC on Merlin’s Seal

You need to manually claim M-BTC from Merlin’s Seal. It’s free, without any gas costs.

Step 1: Claim M-BTC on Merlin’s Seal

  • Visit: https://merlinchain.io/mtoken
  • Click on “Apply” and confirm.

Step 2: Transfer the BTC from AA Wallet to EVM Wallet

  • Launch the AA wallet, transfer the BTC to your EVM Wallet (e.g. MetaMask).
  • Add Merlin Chain to your EVM Wallet.

  • Network: Merlin
  • RPC URL: https://rpc.merlinchain.io
  • Chain ID：4200

Note: Merlin’s Seal is still ongoing. You have the opportunity to acquire new M-BTC through staking new BTC on it. But it will take at least 24 hours to receive the new M-BTC.

Scenario 2: You have BTC on Bitcoin L1

If you have BTC on Bitcoin L1, bridge your BTC to Merlin in MerlinBridge and exchange for M-BTC using MerlinSwap.

Step 1: Bridge to Merlin

  • Visit: https://merlinchain.io/bridge
  • Bridge your BTC to Merlin, enter the amount and confirm.

Then you can check your BTC on Merlin Chain in your AA (Account Abstraction) wallet powered by Particle Network.

Step 2: Transfer the BTC from AA Wallet to EVM Wallet

  • Launch the AA wallet in the bottom right corner, transfer the BTC to your EVM Wallet (e.g. MetaMask).
  • Add Merlin Chain to your EVM Wallet.

Step 3: Swap to M-BTC

Now you have successfully obtained M-BTC!

Scenario 3: Newcomers without BTC on Bitcoin L1

If you have no BTC on Layer1, please acquire BTC via Meson bridge, then follow the steps in Scenario 2 to get M-BTC using MerlinSwap.

Step 1: Get BTC on Merlin

  • Visit: https://meson.fi/
  • Connect your wallet, Choose BTC on Merlin Chain, and confirm.

Step 2: Swap to M-BTC

  • Visit: https://merlinswap.org/trade/swap, connect your EVM wallet (e.g. MetaMask).
  • Select the BTC — M-BTC pair, sign, and confirm the swap.
