Starknet Airdrop has successfully raised attention around it, especially with the dramas and complaints that are going around in the community.
Most of the community members that were hunting the STRK airdrop are disappointed because of the snapshot for the airdrop that occurred on November 15th 2023, way before most knew about Starknet or even the airdrop itself.
Luckily, Starknet has some allocations saved up and will probably distribute it towards the community, potentially after the current development is settled.
Starknet Airdrop Distribution
Starknet, the layer two scaling solution for Ethereum, has just launched an airdrop on February 20th, 2024, at the same time as its mainnet launch.
Reportedly there were 1.3 Million users eligible for the airdrop which was carried out in two phases, 700 Million of STRK in the first phase, and 200 Million of STRK in the second phase.
Apparently the second phase was carried out after the community was protesting to the team saying that the airdrop was not fairly distributed.
This was probably because most of the airdrop went to developers and contributors of the Ethereum ecosystem, while only some were given to the testers and users of Starknet.
While it is fair for Starknet to distribute the tokens to whomever they want, it is disappointing to the community because some of them spend thousands of dollars on fees in January to February just so they can get the airdrop, without knowing that the snapshot date has passed long ago.
The complaint got even bigger when one of the community managers and supposedly the team of Starknet made snarky comments to the community.
After this, luckily the project still had some STRK to distribute for the community as they allocated around 1.8 Billion STRK to give away to the community, for airdrops and for other events.
New Airdrops in The Ecosystem?
Currently there is no information regarding when the remaining Starknet coin or token airdrop will begin, but the community seems to be keeping an eye on its ecosystem.
The Starknet core developers are currently focusing on improving the overall infrastructure of the Starknet Blockchain from increasing its transaction speed, reducing its transaction costs, and even giving options for the users to choose which costs they want to pay to differentiate their transaction form the others.
The core developers are also testing the stability of the blockchain as more users are coming into the ecosystem. They are planning to launch an upgrade to help prevent the blockchain from shutting down all of a sudden so the longevity of the blockchain is kept safe.
The improvement of the blockchain is also focused on improving its communication with Ethereum, since one of its main focuses is on helping Ethereum process transactions.
Aside from that, the main focus is to host more new DApps on the ecosystem which is currently catching the eyes of the community members.
A Twitter account named Starknet_AllDay, which is an account focused on giving news and updates regarding Starknet, has summarized all of the DApps and protocols that are currently building on the ecosystem.
This is the information that holders or enthusiasts need to keep an eye on, as the other 900 Million of STRK might be allocated towards helping these new projects grow in the Starknet ecosystem, probably through an airdrop.
With that in mind it is good to keep an eye out for new projects that might do airdrops on the ecosystem by interacting with the blockchain as often as possible.
If you do not own any STRK it is good to buy some as the probability of non holders of STRK receiving airdrops is lower than the ones that holds them.
